Chelsea 2-4 Arsenal: Eddie Nketiah scores twice in Gunners win

Arsenal put their quest for a top-four spot in the Premier League back on track as they ended a three-game losing streak with a crucial win over Chelsea.

The Gunners are no longer looking for pole position to secure a place in next season’s Champions League, but this win will renew their confidence.

Eddie Nketiah got the better of Alexandre Lacazette in Arsenal’s attack and rewarded manager Mikel Arteta’s faith when he capitalized on Andreas Christensen’s header with a composed finish in the 13th minute.

It was the start of a chaotic first half as Timo Werner equalized with a deflected shot four minutes later, before Emile Smith Rowe showed a real touch of class to defeat Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy on the edge of the area.

Chelsea were back in shape before the break with captain Cesar Azpilicueta, but Nketiah capitalized on a series of defensive errors to put Arsenal back in front in the 57th minute.

Bukayo Saka was excellent for Arsenal and received the reward his performance deserved when he sealed the victory from a penalty in added time after being fouled by Azpilicueta.

The Gunners are now level on points with North London rivals Tottenham, with an Emirates Stadium derby still to come.

More to follow.
