Senator Elizabeth Warren on Sunday ruled out running for president in 2024 — emphasizing that she is seeking re-election to the Senate and would support President Joe Biden’s re-election bid.

during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” show, the Massachusetts Democrat told guest moderator Kristen Welker that she would not enter presidential politics in two years and would be running for a third term in the upper house.

Welker asked Warren – who ran for president in 2020 – if she would rule out a presidential campaign if Biden reversed course and refused to run for the White House in 2024.

“I’m not running for president in 2024 — I’m running for the Senate,” she said. “President Biden is running for re-election in 2024 and I support him.”

Warren, a former Harvard Law School professor who proposed and helped create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, was a top Democratic presidential candidate in 2020. Following a populist agenda, she offered progressive policies that included canceling student loan debt and investments in climate change initiatives, including a comprehensive Green New Deal.

However, his campaign faltered after defeats in the Iowa caucuses, the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries and the Super Tuesday state series – which included a defeat in his home state of Massachusetts at the hands of now President Joe Biden. She ranked third in the Bay State, behind Biden and independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Warren’s comments came in response to Welker bringing up a potential campaign by Sanders, who has already run for president in 2016 and 2020. Last Wednesday, the Washington Post reported that Sanders would consider a 2024 candidacy if Biden decides not to run for re-election. , per a memo written by his former 2020 campaign manager.

Welker then pressed Warren again, asking if she would rule out any chance of a campaign.

“You can ask any way you want, but I’ll say the same thing,” she said. “President Biden is running in 2024 and I’m supporting him.”
