A new season of “Russian Doll” arrives on Netflix on April 20. The dark comedy follows Nadia (Natasha Lyonne), a woman who is trapped in a time loop.

In the show’s first season, Nadia lives the same day over and over, with each day culminating in her death. As she tries to escape this inexplicable time loop, she meets Alan (Charlie Barnett), who is trapped in a time loop of his own. The show also stars Greta Lee, Yul Vazquez and Elizabeth Ashley. Annie Murphy joins the cast for the second season.

The new season will begin just before Nadia’s 40th birthday, after a four-year jump from the end of the first season. Based on the trailer, it looks like Season 2 will feature time travel elements in addition to time loops.

Early reviews for the second season of “Russian Doll” are positive; the season currently holds a “100% Fresh” rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The show’s first season was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series. The series was created by Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler.
