For many, Minecraft is more than just an open world game in which players survive each night, dig for diamonds and build shelters for protection. Some fans see the world as a giant canvas to play with and create. As a video game with near infinite replay value, there are endless possibilities for players to use the extensive landscape and tool list to build some amazing structures. Sometimes these structures are so impressive they don’t look like they were made with 1×1 blocks.

In a recent post on Minecraft subreddit, user Roman_95 uploaded a series of images showing a gigantic, highly detailed dragon over a mountainous region. Although at a quick glance it appears to be some sort of rendering or maybe even a painting, it quickly realizes the viewer that what they are actually seeing is something built into the game of low-res blocks. The attention to detail is incredible, with other users expressing their absolute astonishment at what Roman_95 has created.

Some additional images show the dragon from different angles, emphasizing its scale, as well as the level of detail that was added by adding mixed colors to its skin. One user even jokingly said that they had to check which subreddit they were on, as it didn’t immediately look like one. Minecraft construction.
