neon whiteThe first episode of is pretty much just a big tutorial. That said, you might be surprised to find that these tutorial levels are far from easy to complete with a good amount of time. Fortunately, Neon White is loaded with little shortcuts that will make your life easier as you try to get those quick runs.
Of course, you can save seconds from your best runs and work slowly to unlock level hints. These tips will tell you exactly where those juicy shortcuts are. But why bother with all that when we can indicate the fastest routes right from the start? If you want to get those platinum medals, this is the guide for you.
There are two shortcuts here. The first thing you need to do is jump over the railing at the start of the stage. Just ahead, there will be a small tunnel that will take you to the next area.
From here, stay in the water as much as possible as this will help you move faster.
Don’t go up the platforms, stay in the water and follow the path under the stairs when you see a pile of crates. Jump over these crates and you should be at the very end of the stage.
There are two shortcuts in this level. The first one (which the hint will show you) has you jumping to the lone column at the start of the stage and jumping to where the Assault Rifle cards are.
Then, after eliminating the balloon enemies, all you have to do is use your discard power for the assault rifle to plant a bomb and then jump. The explosion will propel you across the gap leading to a quick finish time. Just make sure you’re in the air before the explosion occurs or you won’t be able to make it through the opening.
When taking out balloon enemies, use one of your Assault Rifle discards to plant a bomb on the group’s central demon instead of targeting them individually. This will take care of the whole group and save you seconds.
This shortcut is very simple. At the beginning of the level, there will be a balloon-type enemy (they are the second demon you will encounter). All you have to do is jump on them and they will propel you to the end of the stage. However, there is a trick to getting a big time yet. You’ve skipped most of the stage, but that means you’ll miss two enemies you’d normally encounter.
One will be on your left when you reach the top, the other you can shoot with relative ease. The other will be on your right. You’ll actually have a good chance of them coming off the stage. You’ll probably need to try this a few times before you get your platinum medal.
The shortcut will be on your immediate right once you jump to the raised platform at the start of the level (so immediately after using your first discard skill, use the double jump “raise”).
However, before jumping the gap (avoiding half the stage) you need to eliminate the demon below you and to your left. Then, after clearing the gap, continue the stage as you normally would.
This is a really small shortcut. While you normally eliminate the first two demons and jump through the opening where the weapon card is levitating, instead, you’ll eliminate the two enemies and jump through the opening on your left. You’re basically just around the corner here. All in all, this shortcut probably saves you about a second. Although, to be fair, this is a very short stage, so it’s not insubstantial.
Play the level as you normally would. However, after purchasing your first card, don’t jump over the gap. Instead, take out the demon from afar and jump left under the archway. Use your double jump to jump to the first in the line of balloon demons. Then continue the stage as you normally would. This will take seconds off your score.
One thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have any spare cards here. Then you need to take out that demon across the gap without fully depleting your pistol card (since you will need to use the discard skill). This can be one of those times when you’d better take a second to line up your shots.
This is a tricky, skill-based shortcut. When you see the first group of enemies clustered on the left, you won’t use your discard ability to immediately blow them up. Instead, you want to get closer to them. Take the second Assault Rifle card.
Now use your discard skill to plant the bomb at your feet, next to the group, and jump. That will propel you across the stage. As you are in the air, shoot the loan demon. Then, when you reach the stage exit, use your Discard skill to blast the final group.
For starters, instead of using the first Assault Rifle card to jump to the next level, take it and travel to the left. Travel along the water until you see a platform low enough for you to reach with a bomb jump. Then use the discard skill to do a bomb jump on the lower ledge. This is quite a considerable leap.
Another shortcut that the tips don’t point out is that you can use the bomb jump to go from one red floating platform to another. This will cut another second off your time.
In this phase, you will use the Assault Rifle card to shoot individual enemies and the discard ability to blow up their groups. The shortcut is found at the end of the stage. Just before reaching the Balloon Demons, you will receive a Revolver Card. Soon after, you will receive another Assault Rifle card (automatically shuffle your weapon to the bottom of your deck).
Use this Assault Rifle card to immediately blow up the group, so instead of circling the back part using the stairs, use your remaining card to double jump at the exit of the level. It’s so obvious that you’re likely to lose without the hint icon.
This shortcut is super easy and a huge time saver. Right where the treasure chest is on the stage, look to the left. There is a small waterfall. You can use the discard skill on your assault rifle to do a bomb jump and clear the waterfall. This skips several platforming sections and can save up to ten seconds. Just make sure you kill the yellow demon right after the treasure chest before moving on.
At the end of the stage, you can also use a bomb jump to kill the final group of enemies and reach the stage’s exit. However, there is also a single enemy to the side just beyond this group, so make sure you kill them before doing so (since you don’t get a straight shot at them from the exit).
